I stopped by an old friend's shop in Kyoto before heading home. What's great about Kyoto Station is that once you pass through the main Shichijo Exit ticket gate, the spacious Platform 0 is already the starting point of your journey to Hokuriku. I even made the effort to come to Shichijo Exit from the Hachijo Exit through the underground passage.
