I'm of the opinion that Aqua really did love Akane,
but there are still some things I don't understand,
one of them being the GPS.
They say it was turned on right after the Gachi-chan ended, but after that they must have concluded that the target was already dead, and if he decided to face Akane properly during the Miyazaki trip, it would be unreasonable for him to have taken the GPS off at that point.
I thought the same at the time, but Akane was supposed to be seriously injured (or at worst...) in episode 98, and that was supposed to be the reason Aqua returned to the path of avengers, but Akasaka-sensei likes a live feel, so he didn't take it off right away.
